You're invited to trivago Tech Week 2020
Join us for several virtual sessions on DataOps, Time Series Forecasting and Resilience and Chaos Engineering!
trivago Tech Week 2020 is a virtual event being hosted to promote knowledge exchange and a culture of tech excellence within the trivago tech community. The week features a wide variety of talks, hackathons and exchange forums, hosted both by our own tech talents and external speakers, including those from Expedia and Google.
We're inviting you to join us for a few talks:
Intro to DataOps - Tuesday 8 December at 14:00
Join us for an Intro to DataOps by Backend Software Engineer, Andrés Sopeña Pérez, as part of trivago Tech Week 2020 on Tuesday 8 December at 14:00 (CET).
DataOps is a methodology inspired by DevOps, agile and Statistical Process Control that aims to improve productivity in the development of data applications. Here we will introduce this methodology, go over the principles in its manifesto, and how they are relevant to our data work at trivago.
Join us on Tuesday 8 December at 14:00 (CET) on Zoom.

Join us for an Intro to Time Series Forecasting with Data Science Lead Zane Blanton as part of trivago Tech Week 2020 on Thursday 10 December at 11:00 (CET).
The talk will be an introduction to time series forecasting assuming zero prior knowledge. Examples will be given in Python using the 'orbit.ml' package.
Join us on Thursday 10 December at 11:00 (CET) on Zoom.
Resilience and Chaos Engineering - Thursday 10 December at 16:00
Join us for a talk about Resilience and Chaos Engineering with software engineers Nikos Katirtzis and Daniel Albuquerque from the Expedia Group on Thursday 10 December at 16:00 (CET):
“At Hotels.com (part of Expedia Group) we run microservices and infrastructure in production at a large scale. Every production incident not only impacts our revenue but also our customers' trust. In an effort to build resilience into our services, this session will cover how to run attacks in both manual and automated ways on the Cloud. We'll discuss incidents and post mortems, answer the question 'how do we become more resilient?' with common practices and provide an introduction to Chaos Engineering!
This talk is divided into 2 main sections:
In the first part we'll talk about incidents, common misconceptions, and resilience patterns you can use.
The second part focuses on Chaos engineering. You will learn how to run chaos experiments in your applications and in your platform in an automated way.”
Join us on Thursday 10 December at 16:00 (CET) on Zoom.
